Set your payment rules the way your property actually works

Hospedaje's new Payments tab lets a property owner choose their payment rail, deposit rules, approval mode, hold window, and cancellation refunds — all in one place.

Every property handles money a little differently. Some take a deposit and collect the rest at check-in; some want the full stay paid upfront; some prefer to look over a request before charging anyone at all. A standout room might justify full payment while the everyday rooms only need a deposit. Until now, none of that was something an owner could set for themselves.

The new Payments tab in the Hospedaje host portal brings all of it into one place. An owner can pick their default payment policy — request only, deposit plus balance, or full upfront — and override it for individual rooms when one deserves different treatment. They can decide whether a booking needs their approval before a guest is charged, how long an unpaid booking holds the room (anywhere from 6 to 48 hours), and what share of a cancelled booking gets refunded at each point before arrival. Sensible defaults are filled in from the start, so a new property is never looking at a blank form.

A key part of this is that payments run through the property's own bank arrangement. An owner with their own card terminal keeps their existing setup and the money settles directly to their bank — no platform in the middle taking a cut. The Payments tab shows which rail is active and, until one is set up, quietly falls back to a manual "request only" mode so bookings keep working without any broken steps.

This is the configuration groundwork for direct, commission-light payments across the Hospedaje product. The settings an owner chooses here are what the rest of the payment flow — hosted checkout, the booking-to-confirmation lifecycle, invoicing, and refunds — will build on as those pieces come online.
